Thank You Card with Stenciling, Stamping and Heat Embossing

Hi guys,
a quick post to share a card I made for the current CAS Mix Up Card Challenge. The challenge is closing soon so I though I better hurry up getting this posted! I used a large flower stencil by sponging inks and stamping through it. I then added more sponging to the card base + went a bit crazy adding white dots with gel pen... There's quite many of them. :) This was originally going to be a one layer but after messing up my sentiment straight to the card base I ended up adding a strip of dark red card with a heat embossed sentiment. I actually like this look better than the one layer look I created first so I'm happy I made the boo boo! Have a good weekend everyone and thanks for popping by. Oh and Kiitos is Finnish for Thank You. :)

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi friends!

Here's my DT card for the latest Inspirational Challenge

Vehicles

This theme was chosen by DT member Carol -if you don't know her blog Just Me C, don't hesitate to click here!

I was a bit troubled with this challenge at first but then my crafty friend Milla came to rescue and borrowed me these fun stamps, perfect for a card for my 1,5 years old godson. He has a yellow car toy he likes so that defined the colors of the car... And then I just tried to go for fun, bold colors for the rest of the card. I used Copics for coloring this scene I created with 2 individual stamps and masking. I also wrote the boy's name to the roof of the car -in the stamp it says "on duty" but I cleaned that off from the stamp after inking (didn't manage to do it perfectly though, there's some y left!). His name "Onni" means happiness in Finnish, it's actually a very popular name in my country."Kevätterkut" means Spring Wishes.

If you need more ideas for what you could make please head on over to the challenge blog where our DT along with our talented guest designer Tanja will give you lots of ideas!

Card for a Baby Girl!

Hi everyone!
I needed a card to congratulate new parents for their baby girl. I'm not a big fan of making baby cards, I don't love baby pink or baby blue and although I love cute animal stamps and doodle style floral stamps I don't really like the over the top super duper cute images people are supposed to use in baby cards... Luckily or me this couple with the newborn girl lives in Lapland and loves nature so I though a small cute critter might do the trick... And I think this turned out quite cute. I embellished the fox from Lawn Fawn with a die cut bow (we are after all celebrating, aren't we!) and because foxes (at least) in Finland have a white belly I altered the stamped image a bit drawing one more black outline and leaving extra white. I sponged the bg behind my fox and made the card base to match by sponging that with same inks too. The stitched curve is cut with a SSS die. I also like the look of the textured card base. Hope you like too! Thanks for popping by!

I chose patterned paper, stamp and something shiny (that would be the pearl!)

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT:

Celebrations With the Optional Twist of Die Cutting/ Fussy Cutting

I used my Copics for coloring in some cute die cut Paper Smooches flowers I received as a gift from my crafting buddy Milla. I added white gel pen for accents and chose to heat emboss my sentiment with white for coherent look. The card base is embossed with a "zebra stripes" folder that I think adds great interest to a simple base. Hope you like!

CASual Fridays Stamps is generously sponsoring us: one random "twister" will receive a 25 $ gift voucher to their store.

Now it's your turn to take TIME OUT and craft! Do visit our challenge blog to have a look what rest of the DT members and our talented guest designer Elizabeth have created for your inspiration. Happy crafting!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT! It's a wonderful Home Sweet Home Photo Inspiration, have a look:

We are very happy to have Happy Little Stampers sponsoring us and Kylie, the owner and designer of Happy Little Stampers is joining us as our Special Guest Designer! In addition to Kylie, a German paper crafter Elisabeth who won our challenge #51 is joining us as Guest Designer as well. Great to have these two talented ladies at TIME OUT! The winner of this challenge will receive a 15 $ voucher to Happy Little Stampers.

In my card I've used stamps by Happy Little Stampers. I've stamped the flowers on watercolor cardstock but ended up doing minimal watercoloring: I was testing a new cardstock and did NOT like the way it behaved. :) So... This turned out rather minimalistic if you compare the look of my card to the photo of the dresser. My original idea was to color in all the flowers with different colors and even make a blue bg... But no! Could NOT make that work! :) I hope you like my card anyway... And please have a look at the challenge blog and all the DT inspiration there! Happy crafting!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new, very inspirational challenge for you at TIME OUT!
We are Inspired by Words:

'A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water'
 Eleanor Roosevelt

I chose to be inspired by the whole phrase but you could choose just tea, woman or water for example. Head on over to the challenge blog to check out the amazing samples by out DT and Guest Designer Elaine who I'm sure many of you know from her blog Craft E-Place. Fun blog filled with pretty cards!

I chose to work with the sentiment "I believe in you" and made this as an encouragement card for some woman whose strength is about to be tested in a difficult situation. :) Girls like flowers don't they (at least I do!) so this became a floral card with my all time favorite flower stamp set by PTI. This set and Altenew's Hennah Flowers are constantly fighting to be my number one choice when it comes to creating cards with flowers. :) Anyway, I did some simple Copic coloring and used white gel pen for the flowers too. I also used a Prima background stamp that is becoming a new favorite as well. I predict you'll be seeing a lot of these small dots in future! I used a very pale blue ink so the bg might be hard to see in the photo but take my word that it looks nice IRL. :)

Please join us in the fun. This time our challenge only lasts for ONE WEEK so don't hesitate, take some TIME OUT and craft!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Happy Easter and Welcome to join the latest Inkspirational Challenge!
You'll find all the challenge details HERE. We are being inspired of this fabulous photo:

Our DT and our Guest Designer Rae Ann have a lot of inspiration for you in the blog, don't miss it!

In my card I've used a bg stamp by Marianne Design and made the fun sentiment and smiley face by CASual Fridays Stamps the focal point. I was going for super CAS at first but then added some gems and patterned paper anyway. :) Hope you like!

Springtime Flowers / TIME OUT Challenge Reminder

Hi friends!
A quick reminder of our current challenge at TIME OUT where we are CASEing Marjan's card (below). Check the challenge blog for all the details!

In my card I've used flowers stamps by Uniko Studio and also used an embossing folder called "rock" to the lower part of the card (this idea comes from my good friend Sandie who I just spend 3 great days with!) . I stamped the flowers with light colored DI and then colored a base layer with Copic markers, then used Intense pencils for added interest. This was the first time that I dared to blog a card with these kind of flowers -I've been super intimidated with this coloring technique! Marika from Me and Minime Crafting has several amazing tutorial videos on this if you'd like to give this style a go.

I'd like to play along at current Mod Squad Challenge: Springtime Flowers along with Uniko Studios March Challenge: Spring/Easter. CASology this time is Weather: I think these sparingly flowers reflect sunny weather really well! Hope you like!

Butterfly Card in Rainbow Colors!

Hi friends!
A quick post to share my card for the current and soon ending Mod Squad Challenge: Rainbow Colors. I've used all the six colors (yellow, orange, red, violet, blue and green) in creating this simple card. My coloring is done with Copics. I've also added Wink of Stella + Sakura Stardust glitter pen. The bg stamp is by Marianne design (stamped with Memento Inks) and the butterflies and sentiment come from Happy Little Stampers. I was able to have a play with these stamps because my crafty friend Sandie is visiting me from London (to be honest while I'm writing this she is sleeping in another room, I'm a night owl!), thanks so much Sandie! Those of you who don't know these stamps yet should check them out -the quality is superb. They even smell wonderful! :) I'm also entering this to Anything Goes with HLS Stamps Challenge.  I hope you like!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
I'm here to share my DT card for TIME OUT Challenges. The next fortnight we are CASEing this beautiful card:

It's made by Marjan Kuppers and I'm sure you'll all agree it's very special! I decided to be inspired of the pink flowers and the circles in Marjan's design and I really love how this card turned out. I used an Altenew flower stamp and colored it with Zig Clen Color Brush markers, blending with water, and added a coat of Wink of Stella to the flowers too. There's white gel pen on the small top pedals of the flower and that really made them pop. Hope you like!

There's brilliant DT samples for you in our blog... Don't miss them! After having a look, take some TIME OUT and join us!

Lots of Green :)

Hi guys!
I'm here with a quick post sharing a card I did especially for the current  Mod Squad Challenge. The theme was fun -all green- and I love CASual Fridays that is sponsoring the challenge. The sentiment comes from their stamp collection. The leaves I used are by Stamping Up. Green Memento Inks, some green gems and two different green cardsock, there's the other ingredients of this simple CAS card! Hope you like!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi everyone!
We have a new challenge for you at Inkspirational Challenges:

I used a Clearly Besotted butterfly stamp (a freebie I once received with a crafty mag, my first time using it actually!) along with a sentient from the same set. The sentiment is heat embossed on vellum and the coloring is done with Zig Clean Color watercolor markers. I also added Wink of Stella to the butterflies and shaded the bg with grey ink to make the strip of butterflies to pop a bit more. Love how it turned out.

I hope to see you joining us! Please check out the amazing work of our DT and guest designer Susan for more inspiration, simply click here!

TIME OUT Reminder!

Hi friends!
I'm here to remind you of our current challenge at TIME OUT Challenges. You still have about one week time to enter our challenge

Easter and/or Spring with the optional technique twist of masking.

In my card I've used a Hero Arts flower bg stamp and colored it in with Zig Clean Color watercolor markers. The sentiment is Finnish for "Happy Easter" and I've heat embossed it on vellum. The card base is embossed with a "zebra" folder. First time I'm using it... Looks lovely I think!

Do enter our challenge if you haven't already: there are great prizes for grabs by STAMPlorations and the DT samples along with the gallery look amazing! Join in the fun!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!

TIME OUT Challenges is turning 2 years today! Congratulations to us! :) We are celebrating with a theme challenge

Easter and/or Spring with the optional technique twist of masking.

Our sponsors for this challenge are STAMPlorations

The winner of our challenge will get a $20 gift voucher. Plus we will do a random draw for those who twist with us by using masking on their project. The winner of this draw will get  2 standard sized ARTploration stencils.

Our guest designer in our birthday challenge is TaeEun. She is a TIME OUT regular and her blog is so inspiring -do visit her blog and leave her some love!

My card was a quick make. I stamped a large Stampendous lily stamp on watercolor paper with black Versafine ink and water colored it with ZIG Clean Color Brush Pens. Those of you who know me are now like "Whaaaaaat?!? Nonni uses water coloring?!?" But that's the truth... ACTUAL WATER has been used in making of this card. ;) I'm usually terrified of using water (I'm too much of a control freak...) but these pens have completely changed my opinion on water coloring. I used only 20 minutes in coloring this image and although it's not perfect, I think it looks rather nice. I looooove these pens. I think I own some stamps that will work a lot better with these pens than with my Copics. And I usually love my Copics... But these pens are so easy to use and they blend like a dream and leave no streaks to the paper... I need more colors, I only have 12! :) I had to take the pic in unnatural light -in nature the blending looks a lot smoother. The sentiment is "Happy Easter" in Finnish and I also used a brick wall stencil for inking the background. I don't actually love the retroish color palette of this card but well, as I said... It was a quickie! Quick decisions were made! :)

Please join us in our birthday challenge. Happy crafting!

I'd like to enter a car mix up challenge in brand new challenge blog. The theme is water coloring. Check it out here!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at Inkspirational: Geometric. A fun one, right? I hope to see you playing along! Our DT has made wonderful samples for you, don't miss them, click here!

In my card I've used an elephant stamp by Altenew. I've heat embossed it several times to two different colored card stock with white powder and then cut the pieces and layered the elephant with 3d sticker pads for a more lively and layered look. I also used a Wink of Stella shimmer pen for adding sparkle. The background of my card is made with Distress inks and with some shimmer mist. I love the artsy, splatter distress look!

Our guest designer this time is Justine. She made a super pretty card, do check it out! Play along and one day you could be our guest designer. :) Happy crafting!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT, click here for a direct link to the challenge post!

We are inspired by this beautiful photo:

There's many options where to go from here: black and white color palette, silhouettes, script/typing, travel theme... Countless ideas come to mind, right!

Our guest designer this time is Cornelia and I just love the card she made. The regular TO members have fab inspiration for you too, don't forget to check out their cards!

In my card I used a My Favorite Things stamp set that I "absolutely had to get" and then I have very hard time using it... I've only made one card wit this set before, that one I hated, this one I like a bit better but I still think it's somehow a tricky set to use!

I stamped the solid bg:s for flowers with black ink and heat embossed the outlines with white powder. It looked nice but very "hard" somehow so I covered the entire piece with vellum for a softer look. I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum. Hope you like and see you at TIME OUT Challenges!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi guys!
Today we have a new challenge for you at Inkspirational Challenges. It's a fun word prompt: Pop! Our DT along with our talented guest designer Tenia have made very inspirational cards for you, do check them out from the challenge blog for ideas!

My card is heavily inspired by my Ink team mate and real life friend Sandie. She makes the most gorgeous CAS cards and she just used this low right corner layout the other day and I decided I wanted to give it a try. She also often uses a textured, white background... And when I was pondering ideas what to make for "pop" one of her ideas was "pop of color". So not only is my little chickie popping out of that egg, she is the only "pop of color" in my card too" :)

Hope you like and thanks for all the ideas Sandie!

See you guys at Inspirational Challenges

TIME OUT Reminder

Hi guys!
This is my reminder card for the current challenge at TIME OUT where we are Inspired by Words

'Love is the flower you've got to let grow'

(This is a lyric from the John Lennon song 'Mind Games')

You can use the whole sentiment as your inspiration or just use some words.

I chose the word "flowers" and colored in a PTI flower stamp with Copics. The sentiment is Finnish for "For Mum" - I sent this for my mother for Valentine's which in Finland is known as "Friendship Day". I sent a whole bunch of cards today, Friendship Day is great for using the "all occasions" cards one has in the stash! :) In making the card I also used a stencil for the background. This is not my finest Copic coloring, I'm rusty... But my Mum won't mind I think. :)

I was heavily inspired by the current Muse Challenge here where Anita Bowden provided this inspiration card:

I was inspired by the layout and also the idea for using a bg stencil came from this card. I love the subtle bg on Anita's card but didn't want to dry emboss the colored image just in case if I would mess it up somehow! :)

I'd also like to enter Addicted to CAS: Bloom

I hope to see you playing along at TIME OUT! There's a prize for crabs by Clearly Besotted Stamps so do not hesitate, play long!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at Inkspirational. This time it's the wonderful photo inspiration you see above. I chose to be inspired of earthy colors, word love and flowers. I made a smooshed DI background and used a Penny Black stamp which I heat embossed with white powder. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine and heat embossed with clear powder for glossy finish -it helps bringing the sentiment up from the dark bg. The sentiment is from a wonderful Simon Says Stamp set I received for Christmas from my fellow Ink DT member Pia! Thanks Pia! :)

Our guest designer this time is Kristina. Play along and you could guest design for us too! :) Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you at Inkspirational!

CASEing Marika at TIME OUT!

Marika's card:

Hi friends!

We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT:

CASE Marika With Your Own Twist

I'm sure many of you know Marika and her blog Me and Minime Crafting: Marika's coloring skills are OUTSTANDING and I mean OUTSTANDING!! Her designs are always so lovely and CAS too. If you are new to her blog, you are in for a treat!

To CASE Marika's card I of course wanted to color in something.. Just to honor her and her talent! I chose an Altenew flowers set to play with and also used a large background stamp. I did some sponging too so I guess the things I CASEd were flowers, layout, sponging and color palette. My twist was to turn to color palette around making flowers purple and bg neutral. :)

Hope you like and I'd love to see you playing along at  TIME OUT!

Friendship Card

Hi everyone!
Here's a card that I've made just for fun for challenges: not something that happens very often nowadays! My New Year's resolution is to use more of my older stamps and in this card I've done exactly that. Yay! :) The sentiment comes from a Chocolate Baroque- set and the rose is a freebie that once came with Craft Stamper. It's my first time using it. I've colored the rose with Copics and mounted it on a bg made with Distress Inks, water and transparency film -I "stamped" with the sheet of transparency. The technique is called "ink smooshing" if you are interested in finding videos. :)

In Finland Valentine's Day is not only for lovers but we actually celebrate "Friendship Day" and sending cards to friends and family is very common on this occasion. You'll be seeing many Friendship-themed cards in my blog the next couple of weeks! :)

I'd like to enter:

Blast from the Past at Inkspirational!

Hi everyone!
We have a super cool challenge for you at Inkspirational Challenges: Blast from the Past, pick any of our previous color challenges! It's our 100th challenge and we are celebrating with this very special challenge. There's many great DT samples to guide your way in the challenge blog! Our guest designer this time is the wonderful Kylie who is also sponsoring this challenge. You could win a 30 dollars gift certificate to her own stamp line Happy Little Stampers if you play along! Thank you Kylie for this awesome prize. So generous of you!

I picked "Anything Goes with Silver". I've done a baby card with winter feel. Not maybe the most traditional looking baby card, I know... But I suffer in making baby cards (I don't know why they are always so difficult!!) and just tried to make this cute bambi work. :) There's lots of silver in the card, I especially love the Japanese paper I used in my background with those silver flakes. Very pretty! My coloring is done with Copics. Hope you like and do play along at Inkspirational

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT Challenges:

Birthdays with the Optional Technique Twist of Sponging

The challenge is sponsored by Uniko Studios: if you choose to twist and use sponging in your project, you could win a 15 pounds voucher to Uniko store. Great prize, right!

In my card I've used die cut flowers by My Favorite Things (colored with Copics), a die cut Stamping Up leaf (also colored with Copics + coated with Wink of Stella) on a die cut tag. The sentiment (this stamp company does unfortunately not exist anymore) is heat embossed with white powder on vellum. I've also stamped the background strip with a woodgrain bg stamp. My New Year's resolution is to start seriously playing with my bg stamps, I use them way too little! I quite like the navy blue-purple color palette I chose for this card. No sponging though so my card is without the twist!

Do head on over to  TIME OUT Challenges blog for more DT inspiration. Our guest designer this time is the very inspiring and talented Rema. Play along and you could end up guest designing for us too! Happy crafting!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Happy New Year friends!

We have the first challenge of 2016 for you at Inkspirational. It's a real fun one: "Thank You with Something New". I chose a sentiment by STAMPlorations and flower stamps and dies by My Favorite Things -that set is new to me. The set was released early last fall but I've never used these stamps before this time.  I've colored the images with Copics and added Wink of Stella and Stickles for shine and glitter. A lot of pretty sparkle in this card. :) Just a couple of sequins to finish off the card.

Our guest designer this time is Maaike. She has a very cute and fun CAS style, do not miss her blog! There's lots of DT inspiration for you in the challenge blog, enjoy!

Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you playing along at Inkspirational.

I'd like to enter Mod Squad Challenge: One Die Cut. I hope this card is fine because the die is used twice! Please remove my card from the linky if it won't work.
